EARTH DAY 2022 – APRIL 22
Every year on April 22, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.
Today, Earth day is marked as the largest secular observance in the entire world, with more than a billion people observing it world wide as a day of action for the planet. The fight for a clean environment has continued with increased urgency due to the ravages of climate change.
We are so excited to be planting one tree for every order placed today. At Beserk, we understand how important it is to look after our planet. We will be partnering with onetreeplanted.org who are a non-profit organisation focused on global reforestation. We will be focusing on planting trees within Australia specifically but we love that they are planting trees all over the world.
You might be wondering why trees are so important to our environment?
One lone tree can be a home to heaps of animals, fungi, moss and plants. Without trees, those species would have nowhere to call home. In Australia, Koalas have been named an endangered species due to droughts, floods, wildfires and habitat loss. One Tree Planted will help restore the habitat affected by bushfires and create habitat corridors for Koalas.
Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Have you ever taken an Aspirin? It comes from the bark of a tree!
Trees play an awesome role in capturing rainwater and help reduce the risk of things like floods and landslides. Their root systems act like filters, removing pollutants and slowing down the water’s absorption into the soil.
Did you know that hospital rooms that overlook trees have been shown to help patients recover faster than those without the same view? Trees can help reduce stress and anxiety, allowing us to reconnect with nature. Additionally, the shade that trees provide helps to protect our skin from the harshness of the sun.
Australia's forests range from ancient Gondwana rainforest and tropical mangroves to extensive bush lands made up of native acacia, melaleuca and eucalyptus trees. Your order will help to plant hundreds of trees across Australia to recover forests affected by the 2019-20 Black Summer Bushfires and restore native habitat vital for wildlife.
