One of our favourite coffin sleepers to date is Dracula's, and why did Dracula sleep in a coffin? Well for the original Dracula, this was because he needed Transylvanian soil to be nearby to him in a foreign land or to be entombed within his coffin within Transylvania in order to successfully rest; otherwise, he would be unable to recover his strength. This had forced him to transport many boxes of Transylvanian earth to each of his residences in London. 

For your regular vampire of the common variety they have a few reasons that they love to sleep in a coffin the first being the need to emphasize that they are members of the living dead so their deviancy is naturally reflected in their sleeping habits. Additionally, coffins are a good way to keep out that pesky sunlight that tends to cause bad sunburns to vampires.

Vampires must sleep during the light hours as daylight frightens, threatens and weakens them... haha sounds a little like us!
