Beserk Joins Forces with The Orangutan Project: Introducing Popi!

Hello Beserkers, Happy Wednesday! Hoping you are well as we have some very exciting news!

As you all know, us at Beserk believe in making a difference, not only in the lives of our customers but also in the world around us! That's why we're thrilled to announce our partnership with The Orangutan Project, an organisation dedicated to the conservation and protection of orangutans and their habitat. As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability and animal welfare, we're proud to sponsor an orangutan named Popi. Join us as we introduce you to Popi and share the incredible work being done by The Orangutan Project to safeguard the future of these magnificent creatures!

Meet Popi! -

Popi is a female orangutan who was born on 1st of July 2016. She resides in COP Borneo, East Kalimantan and is healthy and well!  Popi is a symbol of resilience and hope in the face of adversity. Like many orangutans, Popi has faced numerous challenges, including habitat loss, poaching, and the illegal pet trade. Despite these obstacles, Popi continues to thrive under the care and protection of The Orangutan Project!

Little Popi was confiscated from a family in the Sempayau village in East Kalimantan in September 2016 by the Centre for Orangutan Protection. This village is near a palm oil plantation! It is highly likely that Popi’s mother was killed by palm oil plantation workers and then sold illegally as a pet. She was estimated to be only eight weeks of age when she was rescued.

Popi had no teeth and would often cry. Orangutan infants rely solely on their mother for nutrition and comfort. Popi would have been highly traumatised from losing her mother and then held in totally unsuitable conditions as a pet!

A full-time baby sitter was provided for Popi, just as she would have 24/7 love and care from her own mother in the wild. Popi would cry if her baby sitter wasn’t in view. As well her full-time carer, two vets also helped to look after tiny Popi!

Popi has come a long way since her rescue. After a few months she could hold her milk bottle on her own and she also began to stand on her own. She now socialises with other orangutans including her good friend, Happi. She is learning to climb and is also more accepting of other baby sitters.

As Popi's monthly sponsor, we committed to supporting her well-being and ensuring that she has a safe and secure future. Through our partnership with The Orangutan Project, we're able to contribute to vital conservation efforts that protect orangutans like Popi and preserve their natural habitat for generations to come!

The Orangutan Project! -

Founded in 1998, The Orangutan Project is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation and protection of orangutans and their habitat. Through a combination of fieldwork, research, education, and advocacy, The Orangutan Project works tirelessly to address the threats facing orangutans, including deforestation, habitat destruction, and the illegal wildlife trade.

One of the key projects supported by The Orangutan Project is the Bukit Tigapuluh Ecosystem Restoration Program. This program aims to protect and restore the rainforest habitat of orangutans, elephants, tigers, and other endangered species in Sumatra. By working closely with local communities and government agencies, The Orangutan Project is able to create protected areas where orangutans like Popi can thrive in their natural environment!

In addition to habitat protection, The Orangutan Project also operates rescue and rehabilitation centers for orphaned and injured orangutans. These centers provide care, medical treatment, and rehabilitation for orangutans that have been displaced or orphaned due to human activities. Once rehabilitated, orangutans are released back into the wild, where they can live free and independent lives!

Our Commitment to Conservation! -

At Beserk, we're passionate about protecting the planet and the creatures that call it home. By sponsoring Popi and supporting The Orangutan Project, we're able to make a meaningful impact on orangutan conservation and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity in Sumatra's rainforests.

But our commitment to conservation doesn't stop there. We're also dedicated to minimising our environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices throughout our business operations! From eco-friendly packaging to ethically sourced materials, we're constantly striving to reduce our impact on the planet and create a more sustainable future for all!

How You Can Help! -

You too can make a difference in the lives of orangutans and support the vital work of The Orangutan Project. Whether it's making a donation, volunteering your time, or spreading the word about orangutan conservation, every action counts. Together, we can ensure a brighter future for orangutans like Popi and protect the rich biodiversity of our planet's rainforests!

Join us in our mission to save orangutans and preserve their natural habitat. Together, we can make a difference and create a world where orangutans and humans can coexist in harmony!

As we embark on this journey with The Orangutan Project and our sponsored orangutan, Popi, we're filled with hope and determination to make a positive impact on orangutan conservation. Through our collective efforts, we can protect these magnificent creatures and safeguard their habitat for generations to come.

Thank you for joining us in our mission to save orangutans and preserve the beauty of our planet's rainforests. Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter future for orangutans, wildlife, and the world we share!

Love,

Beserk xx
