Why is Evil Ray different to other Sunscreen brands? -
They have gone to great lengths to be one of the first sunscreens in Australia with a next generation formulation - which essentially means they've made their sunscreen with less nasty chemicals and more good ingredients like Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, provitamin B5 and Niacinamide B3. In truth many sunscreens are exactly the same and use an old style formula.
If you look at many sunscreens the active ingredients are identical or near identical and use homosalate as a base SPF blocker because its inexpensive. Evil Ray are not saying homosalate is bad for you - the Australian TGA says they can't say such things as it is still legal to use. Except it has been nearly completely blocked in Europe and the TGA has said they are looking into homosalate here in Australia. Evil Ray doesn't use these old formulas!
What did they do to make Evil Ray as safe as possible? -
To make Evil Ray they looked at real evidence, reports on sunscreen chemical safety from the TGA, scientific studies on the effects of sunscreen on marine life and current trends in making sunscreen overall better. And then they applied all that to make Evil Ray!
Why not a Zinc Sunscreen? -
First reason is a big one. If you have paid attention over recent times you will have known a lot of zinc sunscreens have been shown to not really work as well as they say on the bottle. Zinc needs to be in very fine and evenly distributed particles to cover your skin and it has to stay that way. Sometimes this is hard to achieve and hard to keep that way in the bottle.
They wanted Evil Ray to do what it says it will and give you the best protection possible from UVA and UVB rays. So they took no chances and went with a formulation that they know works and have tested their SPF50+ many times and in many ways to prove it!
Second reason is that people have been led to believe that zinc based sunscreens are reef and marine safe compared to chemical sunscreens, they are not! Zinc oxide can be toxic to marine life and coral at doses less than many chemical sunscreens like Evil Ray. Critically, sunscreen chemicals are not forever chemicals because most degrade over months. Zinc does not and the zinc that you drop on the reef will be there for a very long time -that may surprise a few people!
Does Evil Ray test their products for safety and efficency? -
Absolutely! Evil Ray know there has been some bad press in Australia about some sunscreens not working as they promised. Rest assured that when they say Evil Ray are SPF 50+, they really mean it. Their next generation formula has been tested and tested and tested to ensure that when you wear Evil Ray, you truly have SPF50+ protection!
Is Evil Ray environmentally conscious and Vegan / Cruelty Free? -
All Evil Ray Sunscreens are homosalate, oxybenzone, 4-methylbenzylidene camphor, octinoxate, paraben and retinyl palmitate free. That might not mean a lot to you, but it's better for the environment and you, when your sunscreen doesn't have these chemicals in them. They've also made sure that the kind of chemicals in sunscreen that just might hurt our reefs or sea life have been left out of Evil Ray! Evil Ray's products are ALL Vegan and Cruelty Free and they wouldn't have it any other way!
