Help Save The Black Wreath! 🖤⛓

Hi Beserkers, today we want to talk to you about something that's a bit close to our hearts.... Australian heavy metal music!

No matter where in the world you are from. There's a high chance you have heard some of the incredible music produced by Australian bands and artists.

The music industry down under has deep roots in rock and metal music - with bands like AC/DC taking on the world stage from the 70s. Since then the genres and sounds of Aussie music have branched into all genres, from Parkway Drive to Troye Sivan and so much in between. Australian rock and metal have had such a consistent play in the music industry, to the point where if a new metal or hardcore band starts to release music the general assumption is that they are probably from Australia. And we're pretty damn proud of that!

Okay so we know Australia has great music - but why are we talking it?

Well since the dreaded year of 2020 we have tragically seen so much of our local music and creative arts industry crumble due to lack of funding. Time and time again we have seen venues close, artists go on hiatus and events disappear into the void. So let's not let it happen again.

We have a chance right now, to come together and save The Black Wreath.

The Black Wreath is Central Australia’s only "music hub". Basically their landlords are looking to sell the building which the Black Wreath currently use to offer music production studios, managing events, teaching and training of musicians. They champion local artists at every stage of their music journey, helping them to develop and up-skill. Plus they offer a space for these musicians to perform at their range of events year round - including at Australia’s first camp-out heavy metal music festival Blacken Open Air. 

And as it's based in the middle of Australia where artists really have nowhere else to go - closing The Black Wreath down would deny so many Australians to chase their passions and create something incredible. Their art may never see the light of day.

They're the only resource of their kind within a 1500km radius.

BUT there is still hope. If they can raise the funds, they will be able to buy the land themselves and keep The Black Wreath and all the amazing services they offer, running for many years to come! 

At the time of writing this Blog they have just over a week left and they just about are three quarters funded already! So with your help, the goal is definitely in sight!

So how can you help?

You can attend the upcoming Blacken Forever shows on Saturday September 12th - on the FINAL DAY of the campaign to save The Black Wreath. These heavy metal concerts will occur simultaneously in 6 venues all across the country. Featuring a range of local bands - all performing to help raise last needed funds to drive the campaign home.

Or you can donate directly to their cause - and there are lots of super cool limited rewards for donating certain amounts too!

Beserk aren't directly associated with The Black Wreath, but we absolutely love and respect the work they're doing - and couldn't just sit by and watch another Aussie arts institution close. Especially one doing such important work for Australia's most remote artists.
