The core games are released in generations, each with different Pokémon, storylines, and characters. Remakes of the games are usually released around a decade after the original versions for the latest console at the time. Pokemon, also known as Pocket monsters in Japan, is an animated series created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995. The series is based around fictional characters called "Pokemon". The humans, or "Pokemon Trainers" catch and train the Pokemon to fight each other for sports. Pokemon quickly became one of the highest-grossing franchises of all time with a whopping 90 billion dollars in revenue.

With 823 fictional species of Pokemon, there are so many to fall in love with. Over the years, Pokemon has become a household name, and to this day it still provides copious amounts of happiness, sadness, laughter and sometimes even hate. (TEAM ROCKET I'M LOOKING AT YOU!)
