BRAND INFO

Bandai builds on dreams, adds to the fun, and strives to inspire kids of all ages around the world, every day, including adults! A leader in developing engaging, quality toys that capture children’s imaginative spirit and provide endless “Fun For The Future,” Bandai America Incorporated is the manufacturer and master toy licensee of some of the most popular brands in children’s toys and interactive entertainment today. The Bandai America brand family includes Dragon Ball and Tamagotchi, among other boys, girls, preschool, and hobby product lines. Bandai America Incorporated is a subsidiary of BANDAI NAMCO Holdings USA Inc, an entity that resulted from the integration of Namco Ltd and Bandai Co Ltd of Japan. Global interests encompass three strategic business units: Toys and Hobby, Video Games and Online Entertainment and Film and Music. The company is headquartered in El Segundo, California.

Remember in the 90s when we all had to keep our little digital Tamagotchi pets alive? The hand held digital pets would often die on us after we forgot to feed them, or play with them, or do whatever minor functionality thing that Tamagotchi provided the users. It was released by Bandai on November 23, 1996 in Japan and May 1997 in the rest of the world, quickly becoming one of the biggest toy fads of the 1990s and early 2000s. As of 2010, over 76 million Tamagotchi's had been sold worldwide!

Beserk has a number of Tamagotchi's in our Bandai collection! Most Tamagotchi's are housed in a small egg-shaped computer with an interface usually consisting of three buttons, although the number of buttons may vary. According to Bandai, the name is a combination combining the two Japanese words tamago, which means "egg", and the end of "watch". Tamagotchi is also very similar sounding to the Japanese word for “friend”, tomodachi, so Tamagotchi also means “egg friend” in Japanese.
