Beserk has a great range of pop culture and quirky umbrellas to keep dry while remaining funky and stylish on those rainy days. Alternative brands Kreepsville 666 and Sourpuss have supplied some super cute and very gothic umbrellas and parasols.

First things first, Umbrella versus Parasol - what is the difference? Well, that is easy - they both are designed to keep you protected from the elements! An umbrella is designed to keep the rain away during rainy weather and is manufactured as such. A parasol is an opposite - it blocks the harmful rays of the sun. Basically, they both perform the same function, however, a parasol is more likely to be made of materials that are not conducive to wet weather. Parasols are sometimes called sunshades. An umbrella may also be called a brolly (UK slang).

Umbrellas and parasols are constructed of a folding canopy supported by wooden, metal, or hard plastic ribs, and mounted to a central pole (also made of metal, wood, or plastic), protecting a person from direct rain or sunlight. Often the difference is the material used for the canopy; some parasols are not waterproof. Umbrella canopies may be made of fabric or flexible plastic. There are also combinations of parasol and umbrella that are called en-tout-cas (french for 'in any case). Umbrellas and parasols are primarily hand-held portable devices sized for personal use. The largest hand-portable umbrellas are golf umbrellas. Umbrellas can be divided into two categories: fully collapsible umbrellas, in which the metal pole supporting the canopy retracts, making the umbrella small enough to fit in a handbag; and non-collapsible umbrellas, in which the support pole cannot retract and only the canopy can be collapsed. Another distinction can be made between manually operated umbrellas and spring-loaded automatic umbrellas which spring open at the press of a button.

Enjoy being outside in any weather and still look awesome!
